Founder, Oman Robotic Society
I’m Kabir Goel, founder of the Oman Robotic Society and a Year 12 student at the British School Muscat, where my passion for robotics first took shape. What began as after-school tinkering grew into national and international competition success — and, eventually, into a mission to make that same opportunity available to every student in Oman.
After winning the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Nationals and going on to represent Oman at the WRO International Finals in Turkey, I founded BSM’s first WRO and VEX robotics clubs to share what I had learned. Demand quickly outgrew what one school club could offer — enrollment ran three times over capacity — and I realised that students across the country faced the same barrier I once had: no clear pathway into robotics learning and competition. That realization became the founding idea behind the Oman Robotic Society: an online platform built to give every student, regardless of school or background, the structured learning and mentorship pathway that didn’t exist when I was teaching myself.
Since founding the Society, I’ve grown it into Oman’s first free, nationwide robotics learning initiative — training 1000+ students and recruiting 15+ mentors across three countries, with our teams earning seven competition medals to date. Alongside this, my own engineering work spans an autonomous rover for disaster response, patented in Germany, a computer-vision role with an international FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team, and volunteer support for humanitarian drone projects with the National Innovation Centre in Nepal.
I continue to coach, mentor, and compete alongside the students of the Oman Robotic Society, guided by a simple belief: access to hands-on robotics education — not talent alone — should determine who gets to build the future. Through the Society, I’m working to build the next generation of robotic innovators in Oman.
